Next month sees international melodeath act Arch Enemy release Deceivers, their 11th studio album. Now, the band have dropped another single from that record, the chuggy, mid-paced “In the Eye of the Storm.”
Listening to this song, there’s one thing that comes to mind: sweat. This is a metal gym anthem if there ever was one, its mid-paced rhythm and lyrics about overcoming stuff perfect for the treadmill and the bench. In fact, the song sounds so distinctly aligned with that activity that it makes one imagine a training montage. Like, Michael Amott ties a bandana around his forehead, drags a car engine across a field, and does curls while staring at a picture of…fuck, I dunno, who would Amott fight in the final scene? Zakk Wylde? He’s sort of the Drago of metal guitarists.
Anyway, listen to “In The Eye of the Storm” below. The track’s official video comes out in a couple of hours, so set your reminders for that, too.
