In The Flash #782, Wally West once again demonstrates his dangerous habit of withholding vital information from his allies.

The following article contains spoilers from The Flash #782, on sale now.

Wally West is facing a number of roadblocks and obstacles as he becomes adjusted to being the world's only Flash again. In The Flash #782 (by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Matt Ryan, Jeremy Cox, Peter Pantazis, and Rob Leigh), he demonstrates that one of the major problems he has been facing is a lack of open communication with the other heroes of the DC Universe. In this instance, he neglects to tell anyone that the cosmic treadmill was stolen.

This necessary bit of info came when he casually mentioned the theft of the treadmill to Kid Flash, who reacted in astonishment that Wally had told no one else. It's only made worse by the fact that the treadmill was stolen by Amanda Waller to aid in her conquest of Earth-3, which led to a recent war between her forces and Kid Flash's teammates in the Teen Titans. Had Wally shared this information sooner, the conflict could have been avoided entirely.

The cosmic treadmill is a cosmic tool that the Flash uses to travel between different universes. It is arguably one of the most powerful pieces of technology in the DC Universe, and has become much more relevant in the wake of breaches from across the multiverse. Its theft should have been a priority for the Justice League. However, Wally elected not to tell anyone about what happened.

This isn't the first time Wally West has withheld important information. While taking Kid Flash on a tour of his patrol route, Wally revealed that someone had been attempting to rebuild the Hall of Doom. Rather than share this information, he opted to sabotage the efforts whenever he stumbled across a new, incomplete hall. While it slowed down the efforts of whoever was building the hall, it also ignored the possibility of a larger problem that requires a more practical and definitive solution.

Wally's lack of communication will likely get him in more trouble than he can handle eventually. The threats keep escalating, and they seem to be getting closer to home. Wally's insistence on taking these situations lightly could easily spiral into a multiversal catastrophe.

In his defense, Wally hasn't been an established part of the hero community for some time and is still readjusting. Compounding matters is the emotional trauma he feels that he has caused others in the past. Perhaps Wally feels that he's caused enough trouble for his friends and simply wants to handle the problems he encounters on his own, unaware of the potential cost of his actions.
