The best mid-range treadmill out there is the JTX Sprint-3. With speeds up to 16km/h (10mph) on its 2hp motor, it’s a capable enough machine for most runners and has a 10% incline to test your legs even more. What’s particularly useful is how compact the Sprint-3 is, especially when it gets folded away. It’s the smallest of the JTX range, measuring only 160cm long and 105cm when folded, so if space is a premium this could be the option for you. For those with a bit more spare cash, our favourite treadmill under £1,000 – the JTX Sprint-7 – has also seen its price slashed to just under £900. It’s an altogether bigger machine that goes up to 20km/h, with three extra programmes and a 2% greater incline making it the best option if you want to maximise your running abilities. The middle child of the two machines is the JTX Sprint-5, which is also on sale at a reduced price of £799.

To get that cycling buzz from the safety of your home, the JTX Cyclo-6 is perfect to keep you challenged no matter your ability. It matches the performance of commercial bikes you’ll find in the gym through a 22kg flywheel with friction resistance – simply twirl the knob to make things more difficult. Since this weighty flywheel is also big, it makes for a very stable riding experience. You’ll also get real-time metrics such as your speed, time and distance to check how you’re doing. The only reason to overlook the Cyclo 6 would be for smart connectivity or advanced technique analysis found on models closer to £1,000. So, if you’re after the best-value exercise bike that will push you to your limits, the JTX Cyclo-6 is the one – especially with £50 off.

If rowing is more your style, the JTX Freedom Air Rower 2 is the best option in the sub-£500 price range. Using a combination of air and magnets, this self-powered rower has eight levels of resistance that provide a completely natural pull that will increase in difficulty at the turn of a dial. Without the need for power, you can stick it anywhere, too: in your outdoor gym, in the basement or in your front room – there’s no need to find a plug socket. When it comes to offering the best value, we found the JTX Tri-Fit to be the best cross trainer on the market. With a hefty 17kg flywheel and adjustable stride between 40cm and 51cm to be used on 18 workout programmes at 16 levels of resistance, this cross trainer is very adaptable for the home workout of your choosing. Some programmes can push you to your limits, such as the hill climb session that utilises the Tri-Fit’s adjustable incline to mimic reality. You can even play your favourite songs through the built-in speakers to stay motivated. Now on sale for even less, the JTX Tri-Fit offers even better value.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a cheaper cross-trainer that works best for smaller strides, JTX also has the Strider-X7 discounted by an extra £50 to £449. The more luxurious Zenith Cross Trainer has also seen a price reduction of £70 if your finances can stretch that little bit further.
